What’s the Job?
As the Operations Manager, you’ll oversee the administrative, financial, and accounting functions of our Nairobi office. You’ll ensure compliance with our policies and provide guidance to enhance financial and administrative management. Your role will involve:
- Managing office services like space, equipment, communication, travel, procurement, and utilities.
- Ensuring timely and accurate processing of expenditures and disbursements.
- Supporting zone and sub-offices with administrative and financial management.
- Advising staff on policies and procedures and ensuring they are well-briefed.
- Reviewing internal controls and ensuring compliance with UNICEF policies.
- Training staff on UN/UNICEF accounting and financial policies.
- Managing the operations budget and coordinating with the Chief of Operations.
- Overseeing bank accounts, cash positions, and financial reconciliations.
- Developing effective relationships with other agencies, local authorities, and partners.
- Supporting UN common services for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Developing training programs for staff capacity building.
- Managing assets and ensuring their proper utilization and disposal.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Advanced degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- Experience: 8+ years in finance management and office administration, with some international experience.
- Languages: Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language is a plus.
