NRC is hiring : Education Project Officer

Responsibilities

  • Attend education-related meetings and conferences at district, regional, and state levels.
  • Oversee planning, monitoring, and implementation of funds for basic education, youth training, and teacher training.
  • Coordinate assessments, progress tracking, and field follow-ups with the support of your manager.
  • Develop and submit activity plans and reports regularly.
  • Assist in creating education operational plans, proposals, budgets, and narratives.
  • Ensure education activities align with plans, budgets, and standards.
  • Manage procurement and distribution of educational materials and equipment.
  • Provide on-the-job training for project assistants.
  • Ensure effective distribution and monitoring of scholastic materials.
  • Lead education sector assessments in target areas.
  • Support capacity building for the Ministry of Education, Community Education Committees, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports, including biweekly, monthly, and situational updates.
  • Develop case studies and success stories from successful trainees/learners.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Ministry of Education, local authorities, and education partners.
  • Plan and report weekly to the project coordinator.
  • Assist in regular donor reporting.

Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in Education or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in humanitarian contexts, preferably in complex and volatile areas.
  • Familiarity with Banadir and Baidoa contexts.
  • Experience with child-centered teaching methodologies.
  • Proven track record in similar roles.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust internally and externally.

What We Offer

  • Contract Period: Until December 2024 with possible extension.
  • Salary/Benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms.
  • Travel: Some required.
  • Duty Station: Luuq.
