NRC is hiring : Education Officer – Elwaq

Job Description

Role Overview:

Join our team to make a difference in education at the district, region, and state levels. You’ll help plan, monitor, and implement education funds and support youth and teacher training. You’ll also assist in developing proposals, budgets, and reports, and ensure that our educational activities align with our standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend education cluster meetings and workshops.
  • Plan, monitor, and implement education funds.
  • Support project officers and coordinate field activities.
  • Develop and submit activity plans and reports.
  • Help create operational plans, proposals, and budgets.
  • Monitor and evaluate education activities to ensure they meet standards.
  • Oversee the procurement and distribution of educational materials.
  • Train project assistants to improve their service delivery.
  • Ensure effective distribution of scholastic materials.
  • Lead education sector assessments in target areas.
  • Support capacity building for education stakeholders.
  • Communicate daily with local education authorities and partners.
  • Plan and report weekly to the project coordinator.
  • Assist in donor reporting.
  • Represent NRC in education cluster meetings.

Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in Education or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a humanitarian INGO context.
  • Knowledge of Banadir and Baidoa contexts is a plus.
  • Experience with child-centered teaching methodologies.
  • Proven track record in similar roles.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trust.

What We Offer

  • Contract: Until December 2024 with possible extension.
  • Salary/Benefits: As per NRC’s salary scale and terms.
  • Travel: Some required.
  • Location: Elwaq.
