The FAO Representation in Somalia supports the national government in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our work focuses on food security, reducing hunger and malnutrition, and sustainable agricultural, fishery, and forestry practices. Position: Operations Support Specialist
Reporting To: Senior Program Officer-Operations (Head of Operations)
What You’ll Do
- Assist with daily project activities following approved work plans.
- Handle admin tasks like recruitment, briefing schedules, equipment procurement, partnership agreements, and travel authorizations.
- Keep project records up-to-date and reconcile them with corporate records.
- Coordinate with field staff on administrative and operational matters.
- Ensure data and documentation quality in the Field Program Management Information System (FPMIS).
- Monitor financial situations of projects, manage budgets, and prepare budget revisions.
- Support project openings, completions, and closures, including handling purchase orders and equipment transfers.
- Prepare analytical and financial reports on project performance.
- Process payments and clearances, ensuring they align with purchase orders and contracts.
- Help plan trainings, workshops, and travel activities.
- Prepare monthly operational reports.
Requirements
- University degree in Social Sciences, Administration, Finance, Program Management, or a related field.
- 4 years of relevant experience in project/program support.
- Proficiency in English and Somali.
- Somali national.
Skills

- Ability to share knowledge and continuously improve.
- Experience with UN systems and project operations is a plus.
